A worker pay group serves as a convenient grouping of workers with shared characteristics that streamline payroll processing by meeting common requirements such as pay schedule, worker classification, types of compensation paid, and other relevant aspects. By consolidating a set of workers within an employer, a pay group simplifies the payroll processing workflow by providing an efficient grouping that can be easily utilized for populating payroll runs.
Pay Schedule
The most commonly used pay groups are ones that also have schedules defined with them - these are very often referred to as "pay schedules". Within the configuration of a schedule, an employer is able to configure the frequency and the days of the week or month that will determine the pay periods and pay dates. Based on its schedule's configuration, a pay group will have a known set of pay periods that can then be used to easily pay the set of workers following the recurring schedule.
